Steven Mluzan, 90, a lifelong resident of the Ironbound section of Newark , died Friday, Oct. 16, in the New Jersey Firemen's Home. 

As a mild-mannered teenager, Steve took up the sport of boxing under the name Steve Hostak. As an amateur, he won the N.J. welterweight Golden Gloves championship. The following year, he claimed the N.J. middleweight state championship. With a brilliant amateur record, Steve turned professional and became a main bout attraction. According to Ring Magazine, he was one of the top young prospects on the East Coast, with a professional record of 28-1. In January 1942, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he served his country for four years as a naval firefighter, a time that would have been his prime boxing career. Prior to military induction, his record was 65-4. He was subsequently honored by induction into the New Jersey Boxing Hall of Fame. After the war, Steve worked for the Newark Fire Department and retired after 33 years. Steve enjoyed coin collecting and woodworking. As a volunteer, he spent time restoring historical firefighting apparatus at the Newark Fire Department Museum and working at his parish, St. Casmir's. In celebration of his life, 

Private services will be held with immediate family. After 62 years of marriage, he is survived by his wife, Steffe (nee Wolan); his son, Stephen; his daughter-in-law and four grandsons.

Mr. Berlin served in the army during World War II where he shot down the first buzz bomb in Germany .  A memorial mass will be scheduled at a later date.  Arrangements by Cremation Society of New Jersey

Kist, Henry R., 56 of Ridgefield Park passed away on Aug 17, 2009.

Loving husband of Barbara (nee Lowe) for 33 Years.  He was the proud father of Jeffrey and his partner Christian, Bobby and his wife Amanda and Emily and her husband Freddy Roman. He was the devoted "PaPa" of Joseph Roman.

Henry was employed by Modern Handling, Hasbrouck Hgts, NJ.  He was a parishioner of St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Teaneck , NJ .  Henry founded the musical group "Noise from the Basement" located in Ridgefield Park .

A celebration of his life will be held at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 118 Chadwick Road , Teaneck NJ 07666   on August 29, 2009 at 11:00am.

WILSON Robert C., age 56, of Belleville, formerly of Clifton, went home to be with our Lord on March 24, 2009, after a courageous battle with cancer. 

A celebration of Robert's life will be held on Sunday, March 29th, 2009 at the First Presbyterian Church of Clifton, 303 Maplewood Ave., from 2-5 PM.

Born in Newport News, VA, Robert moved to New Jersey 40 years ago and spent most of his life in Clifton. Robert worked in the telecommunications field for many years and loved spending time with his family and friends.

Robert was a loving father to Matthew and Elisha, and a husband to Patricia (nee Van Der Jagt). He also leaves behind his father Arthur of Lincoln, CA, his sister Christine Cross of Palm Springs, CA, and his brother Kurt of Madison, NJ. He is preceded in death by his mother Elise Wilson (nee Graupe)

Robert Conklin, age 57, lifelong resident of Clifton, entered into eternal rest, Wednesday March 18, 2009. 
He worked for Hanenberg Construction of Clifton for many years and also Bergen Industrial Supplies of Elmwood Park.  
He leaves behind friends and family who will always remember his willingness to help others. Loving father of Tara and Robert, and Grandfather (Pop-Pop) to Justin. He is survived by Cindy, his Mother Betty Conklin, Sister Debbie Clark, brothers John and Richard Conklin, as well as nieces and nephews. 
Family and friends are invited to a memorial service to be held on April 4th at the First Presbyterian Church of Clifton located at 303 Maplewood Ave. Service will begin at 12 noon.

TESCH Alma Beatrice, Oct. 21, 2008, age 94 of Ringwood. 

She had formerly lived in Cresskill for 56 years with her late husband Herman Paul, who died in 1995. Alma was born Dec. 25, 1913 in Rutherford to Charles and Barbara Wayer. She attended Rutherford schools and Cooper Union, becoming an accomplished artist whose frescoes and acrylics are exhibited in corporate headquarters and museums world-wide. She and her late husband were active in Trinity Lutheran Church , Tenafly; later in Senior groups in Bergen and Passaic counties. 

Alma was predeceased by her brother Charles and her sisters Elsa Liedtke and Laura Neuman. She is survived by her sister, Viola Grande, Venice, FL, her loving daughter, Barbara, Ringwood, adoring grandchildren, Christine Francois, Oradell, Corrine (James) Francois-Pijuan, Manhattan and Bruce (Esperanza) Francois, Summitt. She was the cherished great-nana of Alma and Ava. Also survived by several nieces and nephews as well as a host of friends who will miss her vibrant spirit.

Cremation private with a Memorial service to be held on Nov. 8, 2008 at Christ the King Lutheran Church , Erskine Rd. Ringwood. In lieu of flowers, donations to a charity in Alma 's name would be appreciated.
