Anna Mae (Douma) Dykstra, 96, of North Haledon, NJ, went home to be with the Lord on October 18, 2025, passing peacefully in her sleep.
Born on February 23, 1929, in Prospect Park, NJ, Anna Mae was the beloved daughter of Henry and Anna Douma. She married Garry Dykstra on July 8, 1949, and together they shared 70 years of love, faith, and devotion.
Anna Mae lived a life centered on faith, family, and service. She was a faithful member of Unity Church in Prospect Park, NJ, worked as a nurse’s aide at the Holland Christian Home, and continued to serve as a volunteer after her retirement. She found joy in spending time with family, traveling, knitting, and baking, but her greatest joy came from her relationship with Jesus Christ.
Anna Mae was preceded in death by her husband, Garry Dykstra, in 2019; her parents, Henry and Anna Douma; and her five sisters and five brothers. She is survived by her children, Judith Van Ek (Edward) of Wanaque, NJ; Roger Dykstra (Rochelle) of Hendersonville, NC; and Karen Kuperus (Richard) of Westtown, NY; as well as eight grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will take place on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Rockpoint Community Church, located at 400 North Haledon Ave., North Haledon, NJ. A celebration of Anna Mae’s life will follow at 12:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Windmere in memory of Anna Mae Dykstra.
Though our hearts ache with loss, we take comfort in knowing that Anna Mae is now in the presence of the Lord.
