Carol A. Silverthorne

Carol A. Silverthorne (née Pittington), 84, of West Caldwell, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, October 8, 2026, following a brief illness.

Born in Plainfield to Helen and James Pittington, Carol grew up in North Plainfield. She worked for many years as a secretary, including positions with Merrimac Industries and attorney James Geller. She was a dedicated worker who instilled a strong work ethic in her children.

On October 3, 1964, Carol married David L. Silverthorne. Together, they built a life filled with family, love, and shared adventures, including the cruises they enjoyed taking together. Carol also loved a good trip to the casino.

Quiet and unassuming by nature, Carol had a deep appreciation for nature and animals, especially cats. Above all, she cherished her grandchildren. She was always there to support them, cheering from the sidelines at their games and attending the many activities that filled their lives. Her presence and unwavering support were a constant expression of her love for them.

Carol was predeceased by her beloved husband of 61 years, David, in December 2025, and her brothers, Richard and Robert Pittington.

She is survived by her children, Dave Silverthorne and his wife, Liz; Karen Silverthorne-Kaldy and her partner, Kevin Shally; and Steven Silverthorne and his wife, Melissa. She also leaves behind her nine beloved grandchildren, Hunter Kaldy and his wife, Ariana; Griffin Silverthorne; Spencer Kaldy and his partner, Alena; McKenna Kaldy; Shannon Silverthorne; Nicholas Silverthorne; Summer Silverthorne; Ryder Silverthorne; and Skye Silverthorne; and her great-grandson, Jack Lee Kaldy.
