Matthew W. Mitchell III

Matthew W. Mitchell III, 84, passed away on April 17, 2026, in Park Ridge, New Jersey.

Born on February 2, 1942, in Passaic, New Jersey, he was the son of Matthew W. Mitchell Jr. and Frances Mitchell. He was raised in Rutherford, New Jersey, and was a proud graduate of St. Peter’s Prep and St. Peter’s College.

Matthew was a longtime resident of Midland Park, where he lived for 36 years. He worked as a sales associate at Kemperle Co. in Paterson for many years.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Colette Mitchell (née Curtis), with whom he shared 53 years of marriage, as well as his brothers, John and Mark. He was the eldest of six children and is survived by his siblings Luke, Terese, and Peter.

Matthew is also survived by his loving children: Robert Mitchell (Gail), Eileen Mitchell, John Mitchell, and Alice Celello (Michael). He was a proud grandfather to Kevin, Katie, Nicolette, and Mitchell.

Matthew will be remembered for his deep devotion to his family and the quiet strength and steady presence he brought to those who knew him. He will be deeply missed.
